We love our customers’ little dog photos!

Wishing Lee and Joe Rubin — and their little Yarmulke’d doggie — a very happy Chanukah!

Small Dog Yarmulke

Meet Yoshi, Lee and Joe’s 3 year old Boston Terrier. Yoshi is wearing his new Doggie yarmulke his dad purchased from the Small Dog Mall Judaica section. We’re not sure if he gets that it’s Chanukah. Maybe he’s already reclining for Passover!

Either way we’re happy to see such a lovely pup wearing his doggie attire.

Little Dog Rescue Provides Big Security and Love

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

Francois and Susi Cahn lovingly run the Little Dog Rescue in North Tustin (Orange County), California. The Cahns use their own house as shelter, creating one of the coziest shelters we’ve ever seen.

TetonTo protect their fostered dogs the Cahns have a strict application process. Adopting adults must be over 25. Household children must be over 11. Adopters must have established households that are not likely to change. The Little Dog Rescue isn’t just a shelter, it’s a Little Doggie Fortification designed to protect its wards. They provide fierce protection for the small dogs in their care, and will only adopt out if the new parents prove they have the traits required to love and protect the dogs as well.

Primarily a Maltese, Poodle and Yorkie rescue, Little Dog Rescue opens its arms to most all little dogs.

Small Dog Mall extends our warm appreciation to the Little Dog Rescue for taking such a strong and loving Little Dog stand.

To offer your help or ask for an application, contact Francois and Susi for more information. Their current wish list includes antibiotic eye ointment, small desktop copier, towels, blankets, dog beds, digital camera, dog clippers, piddle pads, gift certificates to Revival Health, Pet Edge, PetCo or PetSmart (for immunizations, grooming supplies, crates, medications, food…), gift certificates for dog grooming, soft small size stuffed toys for cuddling and for playing, Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution Flea Treatments, fleece baby blankets, Nature’s Miracle, small crates or wire cages, and Cesar’s Dog Food tins.

It’s Christmas and Chunkah time now, but no matter when you read this post I’m sure the little dogs at Little Dog Rescue could benefit from a little of your love.

A Dog Gift for the Dogless

Humane Society Take Along PetSometimes you just can’t have a dog. My mother lives in a nice condo where there’s a no pet rule. Sometimes she gets lonely. She’d like a small dog.

If you need a gift for someone like my mom I can strongly suggest the Humane Society’s Take Along Pets. For a $50 donation they’ll send the dog (or cat) to the recipient of your choice.

When my mom got hers she cried. She said it was the sweetest thing I’d ever done.

Not only is the plush dog soft, if you shake it it gets softer. I can’t explain that, I’m just reporting the news.

Mom loves her toy dog. It’s soft and says “woof woof” if you squeeze him.

To help the Humane Society — and maybe your mom — get a Take Along Pet as a thoughtful Christmas or Chanukah gift. These plush pets are true therapy dogs.

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

Sapphi, a pet therapy dog We usually think of therapy dogs as working in nursing homes and hospitals. For true synergy nothing beats a therapy dog that works at a therapist’s office. Meet Sapphi, a therapist’s therapy dog.

In the universe of small dogs West Highland Terriers are definitely not purse dogs. Westies — like most terriers — are high-energy, playful and assertive. Sapphi is trained to supress her protective and hunting instincts. The normal terrier barking and chasing behaviors do not present a problem with this therapy dog.

Sapphi is a Therapy DogSapphi’s mom is licensed New Hampshire psychologist Dr. Denise Lamothe. Dr. Lamothe treats emotional eating disorders, often with Sapphi’s help. Client’s enjoy Sapphi’s company during treatment. She is available to give unconditional love to people whose psychological problems often revolve around issues of love.

This site is a celebration of the fluffy earred little dogs. In picture after picture it’s easy to see big confidence in such a small dog.

Each page has 3 Papillon entries and lots of dog and Papillon-related ads. The pictures come from owner-fans who just want to share their beautiful dogs with the world.

How can you not love this web site?

Happier Than a Wal-Mart Greeter

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

And better looking, too. The Times and Democrat reports on some working dogs greeting customers.

“She’s a working dog. She has two very important jobs, for which she is extremely well-paid. She has to be cute. and she greets the clients,” said Osborne. “When people come in, she stands up and wags her tail. She loves children. It’s amazing the reaction people have to her.”

poodle.jpgNothing’s more pleasing on a business visit than meeting the Small Dog Welcoming Committee. Wal-Mart greeters usually try to make me take a shopping cart. Coco Chanel just gives wags and kisses.

For more information on adopting a poodle visit a poodle rescue page or the poodle pages on PetFinder.com.
